Week of November 30th – December 4th 2009
CLASSROOM BLOGGING: Blogging, short for “web logging”, is a rapidly growing internet activity for school-aged children and a great tool to promote expression, creativity, and a sense of ownership over what is written on the world wide web. (Thank you to all the fine people that stop in to read The Lab!) Blogging in classrooms can be used for sharing lesson plans, student journals, homework assignments, classroom announcements and numerous other helpful things. The “virtual classroom” aspect of blogs are endless! The following links show helpful blogging implementation ideas.

1. Back to Basics – The bare-bones about classroom blogging.
2. Multi-User Blogging – 21Classes helps different kinds of groups set up useful and easily accessible blogging networks.
3. Learning as Conversation – An education-specific blogging engine that allows students and teachers to share personal posts and classroom assignments across the entire site.
4. Books on Blogging – Just as an interesting note, many simple classroom blogging searches on the internet bring up numerous books written on the relationship between classrooms and blogs.
5. Two Roads – Although a little more dated, this article shows two distinct ways to interest students in blogging. Should children be motivated by assignments or by intrinsic interest in blogging?
